PLC Grant Scheme Students who already hold a FETAC Level 5, Higher Certificate, Ordinary Degree or Honours Degree qualification are ineligible to apply for a PLC Grant. However, if a student already holds a FETAC Level 5 qualification and are pursuing a FETAC Level 6 or higher course he/she are eligible to apply for a PLC grant. Students can apply for a VEC Scholarship if they are pursuing Full-Time Post-graduate studies in Ireland. Post-graduate studies at Colleges outside of Ireland are not funded by the VEC Scholarship Scheme. For full VEC Scholarship Scheme details please click link below and 'Open' or to save file click and select 'Save' . 2010 final vec schemeSpecial conditions applying to students over 23 years entering an approved course ‘Mature student’ A mature student means a student who is residing with parents/guardians and is at least 23 years of age on the 1st of January of the year of entry to an approved course. This student is assessed for grant assistance on their parents and their own income. ‘Independent Mature Student’ An independent mature student means a student who is at least 23 years of age on the 1st of January of the year of entry to an approved course and who was not resident with his/her parents from 1st October of the year prior to entry on an approved course. Such students can apply based on their own source of income for a 12 month period and they must submit documentary evidence of their independent address e.g. Utility bill, Lease agreement etc. (Mayo County Council administers grants for students who gain direct entry into universities.
