Post Primary Education
The difficult and challenging task of preparing our teenagers for further education, in order that they take their place in a rapidly changing world continues to be energetically undertaken by Mayo VEC. We provide a broad and balanced education for all our students regardless of colour, creed or social class in close cooperation with, parents and students in a friendly and caring atmosphere.
Our schools mirror real life where students from all strands of society mix freely facilitating effective preparation for citizenship and adult life.
We have welcomed change and continue to develop programmes and strategies in order to prepare our students for 'the information age' where information technology and computer training for teachers and studentes is given a high priority. Mayo VEC is to the forefront in pioneering a programme of in house training in integrating IT into all areas of the Curriculum.
By September 2007 all our schools will have state of the art IT facilities including server based networks and computer facilities for teaching Computer Aided Design software to students as part of the Design and Communication Graphics Leaving Certificate programme.
Thanks to DEIS most of our schools have benefited from generous grants and extra personnel, resulting in first class facilities extra career guidance and counselling, a generous pupil teacher ratio resulting in smaller classes and more personal tuition for all our students.
Mayo VEC is embarking on a new exciting era in Irish education. Improved teaching and learning is already apparent as a result of better planning more structured preparation of curriculum delivery and assessment. The much dreaded Whole School Inspections and Subject Inspections where they have taken place have proven without doubt that
Mayo VEC is embracing and adopting change and providing an excellent education for all our students.

St Brendans College, Belmullet |
Our school is student friendly, student centred and a pleasant place to be. It will be your home away from home for a considerable amount of time each day. For that reason we have upgraded some of the school's facilities this
year to include a school canteen and extra seating for the students
during break time. This effort at improving student facilities is on
going and further developments will be completed shortly.
A key feature of this school is the happiness and contentment of the school community.
